Our tented safari lodge is located in Tanzania’s Karatu District making us accessible to some of the world’s most popular wildlife safari destinations including Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Tarangire. Our secluded, rural hilltop accommodation facilities affords a most tranquil and relaxing environment to unwind after a long day of wildlife expedition. We operate off grid and utilize solar electricity, and sustainable ecofriendly practices to ensure a harmonious relationship with our natural surroundings. Gilala Hai offers a garden and sun terrace overlooking beautiful farms and forests. Close to the wild, every day reminds us that we are inside the beating heart of Africa.

“This camp is one of the best I’ve ever stayed. Luxury touches and first class service. The staff is amazing. The food, superb. And the place itself, is a closer encounter with nature and heaven with the views. Great things to do. Some people use it for over night during a safari trip, but I suggest to stay at least one full day to experience a quiet morning, a motorcycle visit to the breath taking Rift Valley. Learn from Daniel about the history and local culture. Quite an experience you’d love to learn. A must for Tanzanian’s vacations.”

“We stayed at Gilala Hai in May, whilst on a safari to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. The place is absolutely wonderful. Only 7 tented rooms, so a very intimate feeling and each room with a terrace and panoramic views. The main lodge itself has views out to Lake Manyara and Lake Burunge. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. The food, delicious and copious, catering very well for vegans and vegetarians. Perfect stay on safari when visiting any one or combination of Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro.”
